The piece is made from 100% copper. The main supports are welded but the wire is woven and almost crocheted. I have speeded up the process of patination in a few places but it will continue to develop its own patination . This process can be speeded up to develop the natural verdigris or an alternative patina could be commissioned.

It is a celebratory piece. From one side a ‘wisteria’ pod with seed growing; from another an expectant female form. The seed pod is constructed from wire springs to add to the feeling of energy and growth. It hints at a DNA helix.

Due to the base it can be moved easily outdoors and indoors. Outdoors it can be weighted and staked for security.
A copper piece kept indoors in low humidity and sealed will keep its original ‘copper brightness’ for some years.
